October 27, 2021 – JOLT – Balancing Your In and Out?

“A man who as a physical being is always turned toward the outside, thinking that his happiness lies outside him, finally turns inward and discovers that the source is within him.”

Soren Kierkegaard

The age-old deliberation around in or out. . .

pits us, in times of questions, wondering in which direction we turn.

LOTS to be said about the internal route, which requires a stillness that we’re not so geared towards in our outwardly doing-focused culture.

Yet, also LOTS to be said out the external route, which often requires a vulnerability and openness to reveal oneself that we’re also not geared towards in our looking-good-focused culture.

So, as in all things in life, a moderate balance is generally the best mix.

For example, in the career, entrepreneurial or even “Big Game Back Forty” goals support work I do with folks, there is definitely the inside road which, if not taken, leaves one being at the service of other people’s/organization’s goals and dreams.

But, when someone gets stuck inside the folds of their navel, in constant pondering with no pro-active outward engagement, they become limited to only their own world view and best thinking.

And, there’s nothing wrong with being at the service of other people’s/organization’s goals and dreams as long as it’s on the path to your own goals and dreams.

So, the questions to ask might be:

Where might I be in a holding pattern inside the wrinkles of my navel trying to figure it all out on my own?
Where might I be running like a hamster on a wheel in the world of effect without giving due diligence to my inner cause?
What’s my next step in striking a balance?

I’ll discuss this idea of in and out balance more today at noon PST in a short, 3-minute LIVE Facebook video in our Back Forty Midlife Fliers group (again, join us here).

Think differently, play better.

Radically,
